Olympic Imagination Arts Contest


          The coming Olympic Games will be held on August 8th 2008 in Beijing, China, in order to receive this grand sports that embodies peace competition and common development, Hong Kong Asia International Contemporary Arts Promotion Association together with Shanghai Artists Association decide to hold Olympic Imagination Arts Exhibition in Hong Kong in May 2008, the collecting of artworks for the contest is being faced to the worldwide.

1. Exhibition Date: May 23 – May 26 , 2008 ( The Finals Contest and the Awards Ceremony will be held in May 23 ).
2. Exhibition Location: Hong Kong - Asia International Arts and Antiques Fair 2008.
3. Artworks Requirements: Artworks for the contest should be those created in recent years, and embody the tenet & aim of Olympic Sport, to be representable to the sportsmen’s encouraging of the struggled spirit and peace competition spirit of ”faster, higher, stronger”, as well as the artworks’ theme in connection with Olympics.
4. Artworks Sizes: Chinese painting, Oil painting, Engraving, Watercolor, Crayon and Lacquer Painting are limited around 1m x 1.5m, the maximum size for sculptures is 1m x 1m x 1m, in principle, each piece of work should not overweight 100kg. The painting should be framed by Artist. Other sorts of paintings & artworks are not accepted in this exhibition and contest.
5. Artworks ( photos ) requirements: 10 inches colour photograph, sculpture should be photographed at least in two different angles.
Artworks ( photos ) receiving dead line of date: Mail to Shanghai, China before end of March 2008.
Artworks( photos ) receiving place: Shanghai Artists Association ( 238 West Yan An Road, Shanghai, PR China. ( Post Code: 200040 )
After the judgments of the Artworks ( photos ) to be carried out completely, The candidates of the Artworks ( photos ) will be notified by the Organizer ( Sponsor ) in time, informing the specified time and place to send their original pieces of artworks to Hong Kong. The packaging and the freight of artworks incurred would be for the Artists’ own account. The cost for the return of the artworks to the candidates after the exhibition, would be at the Organizer’s ( Sponsor’s ) expense.
6. The Judgment Committee of the Arts Contest is to be composed of the Executive Officers of the Organizer, The Experts in Fine Arts and relevant leaders of Hong Kong China and Chinese Government etc.
7. The contest sets for the First Award, Second Award, Third Award, Fourth Award each, and three Awards of Excellent Achievements. The organizer will invite 30 enlisted candidates to come to Hong Kong, attending the Awarding Ceremony, ( expenditures to be bond by the enlisted candidates). The Olympic Committee’s Executive Officers of China and Hong Kong, relevant Government Officials and Hong Kong Celebrities will be invited to present at the Awarding Ceremony as well. The winning artworks of the First, Second, Third and Fourth Prize will be auctioned in the Exhibition. Three Awards of Excellent Achievements will be carried out for the charity auction. And the rest of artworks will be on display during the Exhibition for sale. The artworks with transaction results are to be shared profits with the sold artworks’ artists according to the signed agreement. The enlisted candidates who come to AIAA FAIR to visit the Exhibition will gain Olympic Imagination Arts Contest’s Souvenir offered by the Organizer.
8. The organizer and the artists will share the profits of the successful auctioned artworks at the ratio of 50%:50% of the auction price. The artworks for charity auction shall be donated to the charity institutions by the artists while the artists will be awarded with the Honor of Art Contribution. And the Organizer will be responsible for the successful charity auction artworks Artists’ cost coming to Hong Kong. The unsuccessful charity auction artworks are to be returned to the artists or on displaying during the Exhibition for sale.
9. The organizer will have the right to promote the awarded , selected, and enlisted artworks, the artists have the right of signature and the right of authorship.
10. Artworks which are not to be displayed continuously will be returned to the artists within 2 months time after the formal confirmation from the artists. Those interested in displaying for sale could be exhibited for more four months time in the relevant Exhibition Place nominated by Asia International Contemporary Art Promotion Association. Details are to be alternatively arranged.
11. The Organizer reserves the right of the final explanation for This Notice and its implemental details. The Organizer also has the right to amend the contents of the notice.
